Hi from the Happy Travelers,
We made it to Woodland, Wa. our first night on the road after getting a late start. Somehow managed to find an RV Park using the Woodalls RV Guide which directed us to the Columbia Riverfront Park. All was fine except the dense fog which made driving difficult the last few miles and prevented us from actually seeing the Columbia which was only a few yards away. You could hear the sound of the ships traveling the river from the Pacific to Portland though and I imagine they were pretty big. The next morning when the fog lifted we were able to see a few impressive tree trunks that washed up on shore from the most recent heavy rain storm.
Before arriving we stopped in Olympia for dinner and visited the Capitol Campus and walked around part of Capitol Lake. We visited Christine Gregoire and only got as close as the guard protecting her well lit mansion.
We are beginning to adjust to the tight but well organized quarters and are hopeful that the frosty temperatures will warm as we go south. At 29 degrees the dogs were a bit cold so tomorrow we will buy a warm blanket to keep them as toasty as we have been.
Mike got tips from Shirley the experienced r-v-er on how to keep the poop from sticking to the sides of the grey water tank. The things you never knew.....
We are beginning to relax and get into the rv mindset. Not sure what that is but we'll figure
it out soon enough.
